Waste Hydrochloric Acid Recycling Solution and Calcium Chloride Production Solution

The system is an integrated waste hydrochloric acid (HCl) recycling and calcium chloride production process designed for chlor-alkali and fluorochemical industries. Waste HCl is converted through a multi-stage limestone reaction into a high-quality calcium chloride solution.

The solution is further purified via neutralization, pH adjustment, and fine filtration to remove impurities such as iron and magnesium, ensuring stable product quality.

Description

Project Background 

In the chlor-alkali and fluorochemical industries, the treatment of by-product hydrochloric acid (HCl) has long been a major operational and environmental challenge. Non-compliant discharge can lead to significant environmental pressure, while simple disposal not only wastes valuable resources but also substantially increases operating costs. Under the global trend of energy saving, emission reduction, and sustainable development, efficient and compliant waste hydrochloric acid treatment has become a key focus for industrial enterprises. 

Through an appropriate chemical reaction process, waste hydrochloric acid can be effectively converted into a calcium chloride solution. According to market demand, this solution can be further processed to produce 77% calcium chloride dihydrate or 94% anhydrous calcium chloride, both of which are widely used in industrial, de-icing, and chemical applications.

This waste acid recycling technology not only solves the environmental challenges associated with hydrochloric acid disposal, but also enables resource recovery and circular economy practices. More importantly, it transforms waste hydrochloric acid into high value-added calcium chloride products, helping chemical plants reduce waste treatment costs, improve profitability, and achieve sustainable development goals.

Process Flow Description 

Waste hydrochloric acid is first reacted with limestone in a reactor to form a calcium chloride solution. A three-stage reaction system is adopted to ensure complete conversion and stable composition. The resulting solution is then neutralized and pH-adjusted to remove impurities such as iron and magnesium, followed by fine filtration to obtain a clean, high-quality calcium chloride solution.

Depending on market requirements, the purified calcium chloride solution can be further processed into:

•  Calcium chloride dihydrate (~77%)

•  Calcium chloride anhydrous (~94%)

This flexible product pathway enables operational adaptability while enhancing commercial value.
