The Flake Calcium Chloride Dihydrate Production Plant is a fully integrated calcium chloride production line designed specifically for the efficient and stable manufacture of flake calcium chloride dihydrate.

The process integrates multi-effect evaporation, controlled flaking, and fluidized bed drying to ensure consistent product quality, stable operation, and high energy efficiency.

Equipped with a fully automated weighing and packaging system, the plant offers flexible packaging options including 25 kg (or 50 kg) bags and jumbo bags (FIBC), to meet different customer and logistics requirements.

Description

Overview of Calcium Chloride

Calcium chloride is a versatile industrial chemical widely used across de-icing, dust control, drying agents, oil & gas, construction, and chemical processing industries.

Depending on hydration state and application requirements, calcium chloride is commercially available in multiple forms:

• Calcium chloride solution

• Calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl₂·6H₂O)

• Calcium chloride tetrahydrate (CaCl₂·4H₂O)

• Flake calcium chloride dihydrate (CaCl₂·2H₂O)

•Anhydrous calcium chloride (powder or granule form)

Among these, calcium chloride dihydrate flakes (74–80% purity) are one of the most widely used and commercially valuable products due to their stability, handling convenience, and broad applicability.

Challenges in Flake Calcium Chloride Dihydrate Production 

Producing high-quality flake or granule calcium chloride requires advanced process control due to its unique physical and thermodynamic behavior.

Key Technical Challenges

(1) Phase transition and stickiness during drying

Calcium chloride exhibits a unique “melting-like” behavior during heating. As temperature increases, it partially dissolves in its own crystalline water, leading to softening, agglomeration, and lump formation.

Without precise control, product quality and flowability are severely affected.

(2) High dehydration and concentration temperature requirements

To form stable flakes, the solution must be concentrated close to saturation at elevated temperatures (around 170°C under atmospheric conditions).

This demands:

• High-efficiency evaporation system

• Accurate temperature and concentration control

• Stable crystallization conditions for uniform flake formation

(3) Complex thermal behavior 

Unlike conventional drying systems, calcium chloride processing involves both free water evaporation and bound (crystalline) water transformation.

This requires advanced engineering consideration of:

• Heat of vaporization

• Phase transition enthalpy

• Crystal structure behavior

• Coupled heat and mass transfer mechanisms

Transforms concentrated liquor into uniform wet flakes through controlled solidification technology, ensuring consistent particle formation and excellent product appearance.

3. Fluidized Bed Drying System

Advanced drying technology enables continuous product output of Calcium chloride dihydrate flakes (approx. 74–78%)

All with precise moisture control and superior product stability.

4. Automatic Packaging System

Fully integrated weighing and packing system, switchable between 25/50 kg bag and jumbo bag.
