Double-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator for Calcium Chloride Concentration

Home Featured Project Double-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator for Calcium Chloride Concentration

Double-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator for Calcium Chloride Concentration

This Double-Effect Forced Circulation Evaporator is specifically designed for the concentration of calcium chloride solutions from 35 wt.% to a minimum of 68 wt.%.

Combining countercurrent multi-effect evaporation, forced circulation technology, a final falling film concentrator, and an energy recovery system, the plant delivers high evaporation efficiency, reduced steam consumption, and stable long-term operation.

The concentrated calcium chloride liquor is suitable for downstream flaking and drying processes to produce calcium chloride dihydrate or anhydrous calcium chloride.

Description

Project Description

A double-effect countercurrent forced circulation evaporation system is supplied for the concentration of calcium chloride solution. The system increases the concentration from 35 wt.% to a minimum of 68 wt.%, providing an ideal feed for downstream solidification and drying.

After evaporation, the concentrated calcium chloride liquor is processed through a rotary cooling flaker followed by a fluidized bed dryer or a spray granulation and fluidized bed dryer system, enabling the production of either calcium chloride dihydrate flakes (77%) or calcium chloride anhydrous granules (94%), depending on the production requirements.

Process Technology

The system adopts a double-effect countercurrent forced circulation evaporator integrated with a final falling film concentrator, providing high evaporation efficiency while ensuring reliable operation under high-concentration conditions.

Calcium chloride is one of the most challenging salt solutions to concentrate due to its high boiling point. A saturated calcium chloride solution boils at approximately 170°C under atmospheric pressure, requiring a high-temperature heat source. To ensure stable and efficient operation, the system is designed to utilize 1.5 MPa(G) saturated steam as the heating medium.

The countercurrent evaporation configuration maximizes steam utilization and reduces overall energy consumption, while the final falling film concentrator efficiently achieves the target concentration with minimal thermal degradation.

Equipment Description

The complete evaporation plant is designed to deliver safe, reliable, and energy-efficient operation while minimizing maintenance requirements.

• High Product Concentration

Concentrates calcium chloride solution from 35 wt.% to at least 68 wt.%, meeting the feed requirements for the downstream cooling flaker and drying system.

• Reliable Operation for High-Concentration Brine

-The forced circulation design maintains high liquid velocity through the heat exchangers, significantly reducing the risk of tube blockage caused by highly concentrated calcium chloride solution.

-Minimizes fouling and scaling on the heat transfer surfaces.

-Maintains high heat transfer efficiency throughout continuous operation.

-Extends operating cycles and reduces cleaning frequency, resulting in lower maintenance costs and improved plant availability.

• Safe and Robust Design

All equipment is designed in accordance with industrial safety standards to ensure reliable and stable long-term operation.

Main Equipment Configuration

The complete system includes:

•  One set of Double-Effect Countercurrent Forced Circulation Evaporator

•  One set of Final Falling Film Concentrator
