Triple-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator for High Salinity Wastewater Treatment

The Triple-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator is an energy-efficient solution for treating high-salinity industrial wastewater with high solids, high hardness, and scaling tendencies. Utilizing multi-effect evaporation and forced circulation technology, the system delivers stable concentration, reliable crystallization, and continuous operation while minimizing scaling and reducing steam consumption.  

Evaporator: Triple-effect Forced Circulation Evaporator;

Working medium: High salinity wastewater, and the composition is sodium chloride mainly;

Evaporation capacity: 3,500kg/hr;

Process flow: Evaporator---> centrifuge, the mother liquor was burnt and the solids were treated outside;

Construction material: SS316L.

Description

Project Overview

This project was developed for the treatment of high-salinity wastewater generated by the coal chemical industry. The wastewater contained high concentrations of dissolved salts, elevated COD, high hardness, and trace amounts of heavy metals, making it a challenging stream for conventional wastewater treatment processes.

To achieve efficient concentration and salt recovery while ensuring reliable long-term operation, ENCHEM designed and supplied a triple-effect forced circulation evaporation system. The multi-effect configuration significantly reduces steam consumption, while the forced circulation design effectively handles high-solids and scaling-prone wastewater, making it an ideal solution for industrial wastewater concentration and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) applications.

Process Solution    

The high-salinity wastewater is continuously concentrated in the triple-effect forced circulation evaporator until it reaches the desired concentration or supersaturation. The concentrated slurry is then transferred to a centrifuge for solid-liquid separation.

The separated salt crystals are collected for further treatment or disposal, while the mother liquor is sent to downstream thermal treatment or incineration according to the process requirements. The system also incorporates condensate heat recovery to improve overall energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
