Description

Project Overview

Bio-pharmaceutical wastewater is characterized by a complex composition, typically containing high concentrations of inorganic salts such as sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, together with various organic compounds. These characteristics make wastewater treatment both technically challenging and energy intensive.

Based on extensive evaporation testing and engineering experience, our Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporation technology has been successfully applied to concentrate bio-pharmaceutical wastewater while recovering valuable salt crystals and significantly reducing wastewater volume.

By recycling the secondary vapor generated during evaporation, the MVR system dramatically lowers steam consumption, making it an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution for industrial wastewater treatment.

Process Solution

Our solution combines MVR technology with a forced circulation evaporator, providing reliable operation even for high-salinity and scaling-prone wastewater.

The wastewater is first preheated by recovering heat from both the condensate and exhaust vapor, maximizing overall energy efficiency. It then enters the forced circulation evaporator, where it is concentrated to a supersaturated condition.

The concentrated slurry is transferred to a centrifuge for solid-liquid separation. Salt crystals are recovered for disposal or reuse, while the mother liquor is returned to the evaporator for further concentration, ensuring continuous and efficient operation.

The secondary vapor generated during evaporation is compressed by the MVR compressor and reused as the heating source for the evaporator, greatly reducing external steam demand and operating costs.

System Features

•  Energy-Efficient MVR Technology

The system fully recovers and reuses secondary vapor through mechanical vapor recompression, significantly reducing fresh steam consumption and operating costs compared with conventional evaporation systems.

•  Optimized Material Selection

Because bio-pharmaceutical wastewater often contains high concentrations of chlorides, all wetted parts are manufactured from Duplex Stainless Steel 2205, providing excellent corrosion resistance and long service life. Non-wetted components utilize SS304 stainless steel and carbon steel to optimize investment costs without compromising reliability.

•  Reliable Continuous Operation

The forced circulation design effectively handles high-salinity wastewater and minimizes the risks of scaling and heat exchanger blockage. This results in longer continuous operating periods, improved heat transfer efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements.

•  Advanced Heat Recovery

A two-stage preheating system recovers waste heat from both condensate and exhaust vapor, further improving the overall thermal efficiency of the plant.

•  Intelligent Automation

The entire system is equipped with a PLC-based automatic control system, enabling stable operation, real-time monitoring, and simplified plant management.
