Overview

We are delighted to announce the successful commissioning of the Potassium–Sodium Separation Four-Effect Evaporator System, designed, manufactured, and supplied by our company. Following comprehensive installation, commissioning, system optimization, and performance testing, the plant has now entered stable continuous operation.

The successful startup of this project demonstrates the reliability of our evaporation technology and engineering expertise, representing another important milestone in the development of advanced high-salinity wastewater treatment and potassium–sodium separation solutions.

 

Project Background 

Many industrial processes generate large volumes of wastewater containing significant concentrations of both potassium and sodium salts. Traditionally, these mixed salts, primarily potassium chloride (KCl) and sodium chloride (NaCl), have often been treated as industrial waste, resulting in the loss of valuable resources.

By separating these salts, especially through the recovery of high-purity potassium chloride, industrial waste streams can be transformed into valuable commercial products while significantly improving resource utilization and reducing environmental impact.

The separation process is based on the distinct solubility characteristics of the two salts. The solubility of potassium chloride increases substantially with temperature, whereas the solubility of sodium chloride changes only slightly. This difference provides the foundation for an efficient thermal separation process.

To meet the project’s production capacity and feed composition, a customized four-effect evaporation system was developed.

Process Overview  

• First Effect: Sodium chloride reaches saturation first and crystallizes from the solution.

• Intermediate Effects: The potassium-rich liquor is progressively concentrated through the subsequent evaporation stages.

• Fourth Effect: Potassium chloride reaches supersaturation, crystallizes, and is recovered.

Through this carefully controlled evaporation and crystallization process, the system efficiently produces high-purity sodium chloride and potassium chloride, converting wastewater into valuable reusable resources.

The four-effect evaporator system has been specifically engineered to accommodate the unique physical and chemical properties of potassium chloride and sodium chloride solutions.
