Overview

In modern instant coffee production, efficient water removal from coffee extract is crucial to ensure high-quality powder, low energy consumption, and maximum flavor retention. A 4-effect TVR (Thermal Vapor Recompression) evaporator is applicable for this purpose, providing energy-efficient concentration of coffee liquor before spray drying.

Brief Overview of Instant Coffee Production

Instant coffee production begins with high-temperature, high-pressure extraction of grinded coffee beans to obtain a coffee liquor containing soluble solids (around 4–5 °Brix). The extract is filtered to remove insoluble substances, producing a clear liquid suitable for concentration.

The coffee liquor is then concentrated in an evaporator to approximately 45 °Brix, significantly reducing water content and preparing it for spray drying, which produces high-quality instant coffee powder.
